A unique 12 night safari holiday to Tanzania

As well as enjoying superb game viewing in three very different environments - the world famous Ngorongoro Crater, the plains of the Serengeti, and groundwater forest of Lake Manyara.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Check in London Heathrow early morning. Depart (ETD 0630) on your flight KL1000 to Amsterdam. (ETA 0905) Connect with the KL567 to Kilimanjaro (ETD 1050). Met on arrival (ETA 2120) with a road transfer to Mountain Village Serena Lodge for an overnight stay on Bed and Breakfast.

Day 2

After breakfast depart for Ngorongoro Crater with lunch at Gibb’s Farm en route. Time for a walk at this lovely coffee plantation. Three nights at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge on Full Board.

Day 3

The crater is 2,000 feet deep and is home to 25,000 plains game and the accompanying predators. Full day in the Ngorongoro Crater with packed lunch.

Day 4

Full day in Ngorongoro Crater with packed lunch.

Day 5

Depart for the Serengeti, driving through the Ngorongoro Highlands, visiting the Cradle of Mankind at Oldupai Gorge. Packed lunch. Four nights at Serengeti Serena on Full Board

The Serengeti has predator rich plains that unfold as you drive through the Park. During your time you may have the opportunity to track cheetah through the Gol Kopjes or watch leopard hunt along the banks of the Seronera River.

Day 6

Full day in the Serengeti with packed lunch, including a visit to the Serengeti Research Centre.

Day 7

A leisurely day is proposed today with an optional balloon flight at dawn, followed by a day to relax by the pool. No game drives are planned for today.

Day 8

Full day in the Serengeti with packed lunch, including a visit to the ZSL sponsored cheetah project (tbc).

Day 9

After breakfast depart for Lake Manyara, with lunch at Gibb’s Farm en route. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to meet local Tanzanian residents at Mto Wa Mbu village or visit to a local school. Two nights at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge on Full Board.

Day 10

Full day in Lake Manyara National Park, famed in Hemingway's “Green Hills of Africa”. The park offers a habitat distinct from elsewhere on the safari. Packed lunch.

Day 11

Drive back to Arusha. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at Mountain Village Serena on Full Board.

Day 12

A day at leisure, during which optional tours (some payable locally) may be arranged For instance, Arusha for shopping, or a half day visit to Arusha National Park. Lunch at the lodge (included) or in Arusha (own account). You will have use of a room at the lodge until your evening transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your return KL571 flight to Amsterdam (ETD 2220).

Day 13

Arrive Amsterdam (ETA 0805) and connect with your KL1009 flight to London Heathrow (ETD 1025). Arrive London (ETA 1050)

Most of the areas we will be visiting are wild and animals can come and go at will. Whilst game viewing is generally excellent, nothing can be guaranteed. This itinerary is subject to change should local conditions or weather dictate. The minimum age limit for this tour is 16.
