Enjoy a winter holiday in
the sun playing association croquet in America. Playing at the
prestigious National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, you
will have the chance to compete and socialise in class and handicap
events with British and North American players as well as having the
chance to experience the American game at the world famous PGA resort.
Two rest days are incorporated into the programme. Our trip will also
appeal to non-players who can enjoy sightseeing or relaxing in Florida’s
sub-tropical climate.
This is an ideal
opportunity to gain a competitive edge for the 2006 season and get away
from our cold winter weather!
Sunday 5th February
Check in at 08.30 terminal 3 at Heathrow for
flight VS5 ETD 11.15
Arrive Miami ETA 16.15 On arrival you will be
transferred to the Hilton Hotel, where you will stay on a bed and Full
American Breakfast basis for the next 10 nights.
This purpose built 4* hotel has large bedrooms, with all modern
amenities including a safe, coffee making facilities, iron and ironing
board, hairdryer and TV. Facilities include bar, restaurant, fitness
centre, swimming pool with outside tiki bar and freshwater lake to enjoy
a variety of outside activities.
The hotel will provide a free shuttle service to
take players to and from the National Croquet Center as well as to City
Place, the nearby restaurant and shopping centre.
Please note that the itinerary is provisional and
the schedule may change: in any case there will be 6 days of croquet and
two rest days. Monday 6h February
Morning at leisure. Take a swim, relax by the
pool, or why not take a 1½ hour ride on the relaxing Water Taxi or visit
Flagler Museum. In the afternoon, players can
settle in at the National Croquet Center with either a practice session,
or warm up one ball, doubles, or even an introduction to the USCA game
Tuesday 7th February
Croquet away day. Enjoy a friendly match at the
PGA playing the USCA game. Wed
8th to Sunday 12th February
Croquet the English Way,
Playing daily at the National Croquet Center there will be calendar of
handicap and class events, suitable for players with tournament
experience. The schedule will be confirmed when the number of
participants is confirmed. North American players
are keen to play in the tournament and are polishing up on their
association play. During the week, some social
activities are being planned for players and non-players. They include a
BBQ Evening or an evening “at home” with one of the local players.
