A 14 night wildlife holiday through the haunting landscapes of Namibia
Our itinerary includes watching wonderful wildlife in its natural
environment plus the marine life of the Atlantic coast, gaining an insight into the San
people, staying in the Etosha National Park, and seeing large carnivore conservation at work
in Africa.
Visitors to Namibia say the country is like another planet. Home to a
fantastic diversity of plant and animal life, many endemic to this unique and tranquil
country, the scenery alone makes it a photographers’ paradise.
Day 1
Check in at Heathrow for your overnight scheduled flight via
Frankfurt, to Windhoek
Day 2
Upon arrival at Windhoek Intl Airport, you will be met and transferred
to the Kalahari Sands Hotel where you will stay overnight on bed & breakfast. The hotel is
centrally located, close to the main shopping areas. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 3
Depart by air-conditioned coach for the German colonial town of
Swakopmund passing through the Namib Naukluft Park, one of the oldest deserts in the world,
stopping to view Welwitchia, the long lived two leaved dwarf tree, then onto Moon Valley.
Picnic lunch en route. Stay at the Hansa Hotel for the next three nights on bed and
breakfast.
Day 4
Road transfer to Walvis Bay. Board your boat for a trip across the
lagoon in search of Heavy Sided Dolphins and Fur Seals. Afternoon at leisure or optional
tours can be arranged locally.
Day 5
Enjoy a full day of leisure in Swakopmund, Namibia’s own Riviera town,
and take your choice of optional excursions including Quad Biking, Kayaking, or Horse
Riding.
Day 6
Depart for Swakopmund via Cape Cross, the home of a huge colony of
Cape fur seals, then passing through the Skeleton Coast to Twyfelfontein Lodge where you
will stay overnight on dinner, bed and breakfast.
Day 7
Visit the San rock paintings at Twyfelfontein, before driving to
Etosha National Park where you will stay for two nights at Okaukuejo, an old German fort, on
dinner, bed and breakfast.
The Etosha Pan has landscapes ranging from dense bush to the open plains of the saltpan and
is populated by the Big Five and many other species. Birdlife abounds.
Day 8
Full day of game viewing in the western sector of Etosha National
Park.
Day 9
Transfer to the eastern sector of the park to Namutoni where you will
stay for the next two nights on dinner, bed & breakfast.
Day 10
Full day game viewing in the eastern section of Etosha National Park.
Day 11
Depart for Okonjima, where you will stay for the next three nights on
full board. Visit the AfriCat Foundation to learn more about their conservation work with
leopards and cheetahs.
Days 12 and 13
Activities as arranged by Okonjima.
Day 14
Coach transfer to Windhoek for your return overnight flight to the UK
via Frankfurt.
Day 15
Arrive UK. |
